I have lived in the Central Highlands since 2017 and have been an active member of the community since this time. I fell in love with the Central Highlands Region shortly after moving here, and my family and I plan to remain in this community. I have always been passionate about providing services to rural and remote communities and since moving to the Central Highlands my passion has grown. Living in the Central Highlands allows me to understand some of the unique challenges and benefits within our communities.
I have not always lived in the Central Highlands as when I was young, I moved to Canada where I completed my undergraduate degree before returning home to Australia to continue my education. I achieved my honours degree in Brisbane before continuing to develop my clinical skills while working in a prison as a provisional psychologist for 2.5 years.
I furthered my clinical skills by working with a medical practice in a community north of Brisbane. I then worked as Senior Psychologist for a private company and later a government organisation which provided me the opportunity to work in rural and remote communities across Queensland. Now living in the Central Highlands I continue to build my skills by engaging in regular professional development and am currently studying a Master’s of Psychology (Clinical) degree part-time.
I have been a registered psychologist for over a decade and also am a psychology board-approved supervisor. I have worked with individual and group clients across the lifespan (4 years) to older adults (65+). I have had extensive experience working with people of all ages who have experienced a range of concerns. Typical concerns include anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, developmental concerns, obsessions and compulsions, grief, substance use, grief, and more. I also have extensive experience with people who have undergone traumatic events.
